Eligibility for Utah Concealed Firearms Permit?

Minimum requirements for application are 21 years of age and proof the applicant is of good character. As cited in Utah Criminal Code §53-5-704(2), an applicant demonstrates good character if he/she:

  •     has not been convicted of a felony;
  •     has not been convicted of a crime of violence
  •     has not been convicted of an offense involving the use of alcohol;
  •     has not been convicted of an offense involving the use of narcotics or other controlled substances;
  •     has not been convicted of an offense involving moral turpitude;
  •     has not been convicted of an offense involving domestic violence;
  •     has not been adjudicated by a court of a state or of the United States as mentally incompetent, unless the adjudication has been withdrawn or reversed: and
  •     is qualified to purchase and possess a dangerous weapon and a handgun pursuant to Section 76-10-503 and federal law.
  •     within the last ten years, has not been adjudicated delinquent for an offense which if committed by an adult would have been a violent felony.(Juvenile offenses)
  •     within the last seven years, has not been adjudicated delinquent for an offense which if committed by an adult would have been a felony. (Juvenile offenses)
